Pumpkin Spiced Goodness and the rest of our lives...

I took a sip with the knowledge that my tongue was going to be in pain afterwards. The steam rose from the cup, but the aroma flirted with my nostrils and I couldn't resist. It was Monday and my first time drinking a latte. Pumpkin spice to be exact. But the pain from a burnt tongue was nothing compared to the taste of fall dancing on my taste buds. So I sipped away with contentment. Burnt tongue and all. I praise the sweet heavens for such flavors. Oh sweet baby Jesus, thank you! thank you, thank you, thank you!

I've visited Starbucks or what some cool people call "latte land" (Hi Lynn and Joe) everyday this week. In fact, I went twice today. If the words caffeine and fiend were to have a celebrity baby, they'd call it Caffiend which is clearly what my name should be now.

And earlier today before heading to Starbucks for a latte, Chris and I stopped by at Grandpa Kevin's Pumpkin Patch in Mill Valley to pick a pumpkin. As we drove into the parking lot, I looked at Chris and said "I can't wait til we take our kids to a pumpkin patch." Though children aren't in our agenda for another 8 years or so, it made me smile to think about. I can't wait to share the rest of my life with him. Because he loves me more than anything in the world. Me and my caffeind self.

While at the pumpkin patch, I made Chris stop to take pictures of myself, and him. I think sometimes he gets annoyed because I always have to capture a shot, but it's only because I want to capture every single moment that we have together.

Here he is looking so adorable with our pumpkin.

And here I am looking like the perfect Grandpa Kevin victim. Ha! JK.
Happy Fall Everyone!

Don't judge me...

I have a confession to make...

My name is Gladys, and I am a wedding-a-holic. That's right. A wedding-a-holic.

You might think I'm crazy because I kind of am. I don't care. I'm not ashamed. I am a wedding lover.

It started at a young age. My sister and I would take our bed sheets and wrap them around our bodies pretending they were wedding gowns. The longer the sheet, the better. Because the longer the sheet, the longer the train.

Then there was freshman year of college. Everyone talked about living their lives, enjoying the single life, blah blah, blah. Me? No. I was designing my wedding on David's Bridal dot com. Sara, Margot, and Stephanie were lucky because I designed their weddings. I'm such a good friend.

What's next? Hmm. Let's see. What about the time when my friend Silvia got engaged? Oh that's right, about 90 percent of the wedding magazines she had were mine. I wasn't dating anyone, or even close to being engaged. Just had them. Bookmarked pages and all.

As if my love for weddings wasn't enough...

I fell in love with Chris and fell in love with wedding photography.

If my heart was a bomb, it would explode with details, doves, something old, borrowed, and probably something blue.

Don't judge me. I just love, love.

Sneak Peek: A Wine Country Wedding

Yesterday, I shot another wedding w/ lovely SG. The entire day was beautiful because well, the bride and groom are beautiful! Enjoy your new life together Troy & Marren!

I can't wait to post the rest.

Thankful Thursdays

I'm thankful for...
-Country music. Specifically, Lady Antebellum.
-Hard work. Because lately, I've been recognized for it.
-Calumet. Best place to rent cameras, lenses, flashes, and all things photography.
-Experience and Helpful Photographers.
-Cupcakes.  Because when in doubt, eat a cupcake :)
-Inspiration.  Everywhere.
-Mistakes. Because without them, I wouldn't learn.  If I don't learn, I suck.

What are you thankful for today?

Here's a sneak peek of the cuteness that is coming at you soon!

Happy Thursday!

Engaged: Jeremy and Laura

Equinox is when the sun crosses the plane of the earth's equator, and day and night are of equal length. You'd think a romantic story about two people meeting during Equinox is next, but you are wrong! ;) Equinox isn't when two hearts crossed paths, but rather where sparks started to fly.

Equinox is a gym here in San Francisco. Pine St. to be exact. Laura was GREET and Jeremy was TRAIN. For those who aren't familiar, Equinox employees wear shirts with their job titles. Personal trainers wear train, and front desk employees wear greet. Therefore, LAURA = GREET and JEREMY = TRAIN. Yes, I know I would be a successful kindergarten teacher with my explanation skills. No doubt! But I'd much rather be a photog :) Anyhow, that is how the two met and the rest is what we'll call history.

As I sat on the couch earlier looking through their session photos, I got goosebumps. If you see Jeremy and Laura, you could tell in an instant that the two are meant for each other just by looking at them. Their session was early in the morning at 7AM, but it made my heart smile being there because I was capturing the best thing in life: Love.

Jeremy and Laura: I had so much fun taking these. I can't tell you enough how great I think you two are. I hope you love these as much as I do!

Here are my favorites...

Tied Knots: Kaiser and Jennifer

When I was sitting outdoors at Brooks Park for class, I received an email through my phone from Sheila asking if I wanted to assist her for a Saturday wedding at the Ritz Carlton. In my head, I was jumping for joy and saying "Yes, PLEASE!" But since I was in class at a park, I had to contain my excitement!

So last Saturday, I had the pleasure of assisting the fabulous Sheila Garvey for Kaiser and Jennifer's Wedding. It was a beautiful day in San Francisco, and an even better day to celebrate the love of two amazing people.

Thank you Sheila for giving me the chance to assist you. I had so much fun that I am actually considering becoming a Professional Second Shooter :)

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the day...

When I was younger...

I wanted to be a doctor. Who didn't? I wanted to save people's lives. I even practiced writing prescriptions for my future patients. Yes, I was born a nerd.

Then there was the time I dreamed of becoming a flight attendant. I used to put on my flight attendant "voice" and announce: "This is American Airlines flight 702 Non-Stop to Chicago." Yep, I did. Not going to lie, I still have a yearning to be one. But because I'm vertically challenged, my hopes and dreams of becoming a flight attendant have been put aside. But I swear, one day you will see me walking through an airport in a jumpsuit dress, kitten heels, and rollie backpack. I might not be the real thing, but I'll definitely look the part. And people won't even know the difference :)

But now, Now I wake up and I see my camera and smile. It was never anything I dreamed to be when I was younger. Nor did I expect to one day wake up and want to capture beautiful moments in life. But it happened, and I'm so happy to be able to share that with so many people.

Though I'm still very new to this business, I hope that one day a little girl will want to become just like me. Me, as the photographer who absolutely loves taking photographs with all her heart. The photographer who is happy about the decision to follow through with her dreams. And, because of it she is successful. The photographer who wakes up every morning and smiles at the sight of her camera...

Thankful

Earlier this week, I joked about how I wanted to get sick so I didn't have to attend class on Friday. Turns out, the joke was on me because when Friday morning hit, I wasn't feeling too hot. By Friday evening, I had a fever and I knew my body was going to crash any minute. *Note to self: never wish to be sick because you will get sick.

Chris headed to Walgreens and bought all types of cold/flu remedies. Why? Because today I am second shooting at a wedding and I absolutely can't afford to be sick. There was no way I was going to lay in bed all day today and miss out on an experience. Thank god for Theraflu tea and a gallon of water that I was forced to drink. (But hardly did)

This morning I woke up feeling a ton better. I am T. H. A. N. K. F. U. L.

I know I've been behind on some posts lately, but don't judge me. I've got a couple of fun stuff to blog so keep a look out :)

And because a post is better with a picture. Here are a couple of the new personal trainers from Equinox. I take the PT photos for their bio board. New trainers were hired, so on Wednesday I headed out to take their shots. Lots of girl trainers this time, so they asked me to take group photos of them. Hilarious, and so girly of them. Gotta love it.

Happy Saturday!

Doggy Portraits: Denali

On Saturday morning, I had the pleasure of hanging out with Denali. A 10 yr. old lab mix, and a total super model :) We snapped some photos, hung out with the other dogs, enjoyed the nice weather at Crissy Field, and drank some water out of the fountain. It was a lot of fun, and I'm so glad I had the chance to photograph such a sweet dog. Here are a couple of my favorites. Enjoy!

My name is Denali. I look good in front of the camera.
Smiling is my favorite.
This is my good side
Shake it like a polaroid picture
I look good in the water
I'm the star. Megan and Tony don't need to be photographed.
Just kidding. I guess they can be in the photo with me :)
Happy Monday!
